Economy patch doll quilt

I started out making these economy patches from my scrap bag with visions of a bed size quilt for my bed. I soon got tired of them though, probably because I didn’t have a very wide variety of scraps.

This quilt finishes up at 16 1/2" x 20". It is hand pieced and hand quilted. It was finished in 2007 or 2008.
The back is a pale blue with tiny white dot.

I’m not sure that I am happy with the quilting design on this. Perhaps diagonal crosshatching would have been better?

  1. What a darling little quilt! I wonder when I see bed sized scrappy quilts like this..if the blocks were made over time, as scraps became available..or if they were made in one go? :)

  2. This is such a cute quilt -- your color and print selections are really nice. I like the circles -- economy is such a straight line pattern, that I think it adds a whole new element and also softens the lines. Great job, Alice!
